I'm still only two-thirds of the way through Faces in the Crowd, but I honestly couldn't tell you very much at all about what it's about. I remember my childhood with tears, but they're rhythmic tears, in which prose is already being formed. Ultimately, “Disquiet” became about capturing all of these experiences and feelings and condensing them into a unified statement. I didn't conceive of the project as a book from the beginning.
